WILD FLOWER SEED

available at the Depot NOW

Inspired by the recent series on the BBC "Bees, Buterflies and Blooms" presented by Sarah Raven,
Kate has ordered a bag of wild flower seed mix from Boston Seeds which has been specifically selected for being a particularly good foraging source for our butterflies and bees.
The seed mix is now bagged up into 4gm bags which should be enough to cover a 1square metre patch of soil fairly densely,
or it can be scattered over flower beds to suit @ £1.50 per bag. Nb: Wild flowers thrive on poor soil so should not be sown where any fertiliser or other soil enhancer has been used.

For detail of seed mix click here

Help wanted by a local charity

The charity earthworks based in St Albans who provide horticultual training for people with learning dificulties has been the victim of a second arson attack this year.
The attack has destroyed their site hut along with all their kitchen and gardening equipment and they are asking for help to replace these lost items.

If any members has any tools or gardening equipment they would like to donate they can ether contact earthworks direct via their web site
www.earthworksstalbans.co.uk
or drop in to
Burstons Garden Centre (www.burston.co.uk) who are acting as a collection point

Earthworks also run a stall at St Albans Farmers Market and the next one is 9th October

even if you do not have any donations just check out their web site.
