December
2012
With
our three events, December is always busy.
Our
quiz night was packed! Twelve tables and all the tickets sold. That is good to
see as it shows that we are supported by the village. Many people said they enjoyed
it and we had the added choice of sausages this time too!! Whatever next?
The
winning teams were:-
1st
The Hornets who won 8 bottles of wine,
2nd
ALMWC who won 8 boxes of chocolates
And
last The Poppycock’s who won 8 tubes of Smarties.
Our
Christmas Social evening with guest speaker Andrew Babicz
talking about composting was one of our most rousing of the year. Would you
believe it! Normally, Chairman Chris has to start the questions off at the end
of the talk but there were so many that he had to finish the question session
so that we could have our food and best festive dressed competition which is
getting very competitive these days, even lights are appearing now.
The
hot mince pies and spiced drinks at the depot, although rainy, was well supported and it was just timely to get the bird
seed for the garden birds.
As
for our ALGS bees:- they have been huddling together to keep warm, just
venturing out when the weather is mild to get some fresh pollen where they can,
so why not buy winter-flowering plants and early spring-flowering plants with
single flowers to brighten up your garden and provide sustenance for our local
pollinators.
Happy New Year.
